Inktober #2

For the second day of Inktober, the theme is “Divided.”

Honestly, it took me a minute as I flipped throught he catalog of monsters in my head (hey, there are a lot of legendry creatures logged in there!) I needed a monster that could divide itself, which is not a common trait, and as I flipped through my creature catalog I rememed one very famous serpent- the Hydra. Made famous in the legend of Heracles (aka Hercules) and his twelve labors (Hydra was labor #2, so fitting for today, the second day of the challenge.)

Most fun part was drawing the inside slice of the Hydra, something I don’t normally do. I’m also challengeing myself to largely freehand the ink work, just laying down some red penciled guidelines under the inks. Working on my linework control as well.

Cheers,

Kat

Inktober #1

Inktober is here! Just for a refresher, here is the offical list for 2017’s Inktober challenge:

So, I’m a big fan of Halloween and all things monsterous, and beause of that all my Inktober drawings are monster themed (as opposed to 2016 where all my illustrations were ghost based.) Every day I find a different mythological monster to use in the sketch challenge. So.Much.FUN!

The first day’s challenge is “swift,” so I used a sea serpent swiftly swimming past a rowboat.

Enjoy!

Zombio!

Very happy to announce a new graphic novel project that will be out in early 2018, Zombio! The series was written by my husband, Mike, and illustrated by me. The cavet in this is the book was written as a lituratre project by my husband over 20 years ago when he was in elementary school. It is a sci-fi story, taking place on a strange and new planet called Zombio, where young Mike and his trusty dog Wheatley explore this new planet and make friends and have adventures with the local inhabitants, the Zombie Family. Plus, this graphic novel is suitable for all ages!

You can check out more about the series and its progression from concept to reality on the Klockow Comics Patreon site. It is becoming a featured piece of my artblog there. Distribution plans for once the series is complete are still being worked out, but we do plan on having it availble both in print and digital formats.

General updates

Hiya Everyone,

Life here has been a little hectic because of the move, but here is a quick rundown on what I’m working on right now.

  • The house is set up after the move plus I finally got a replacement WACOM stand for my display unit, it was broken during the move. Now my back won’t ache from hunching over anymore! Yippee!
  • Jinxed episode 56 will be up Friday 9/22, like usual.
  • I am working on a new indie comic project, Zombio, which is my first Sci-Fi book. More details about that in a later post, but it has been really a thrill to work in a different genre from high fantasy!
  • The countdown for Inktober is on! The daily topic list has been announced:

And that is this week’s projects update!
